A lot of new video games were revealed at The Game Awards 2019 and one of them is an interesting Gears title from The Coalition. Before you get excited, this time around the game can't be experienced in a third-person mode where you control every aspect of how your character reacts. This new Gears title from The Coalition is called Gears Tactics, and is a real-time strategy game. The game is set to release on April 28, 2020.
So what is Gears Tactics all about? Gears Tactics is a prequel spin-off set 12 years before the events of the first Gears of War. Gears fan already knew that a real-time strategy Gears game was in the works, but it wasn't revealed during Microsoft's E3 press conference this year. After this, the excitement for the game diminished as gamers got immersed in other games and Gears 5. However, the excitement was reignited at The Game Awards 2019, where an amazing trailer for Gears Tactics showcased both cinematics and gameplay elements of the game.
If you have played XCOM, you likely know how modern real-time strategy games work. However, in Gears Tactics, the only addition is that your characters equipped with big guns and face off against bigger monsters. Players must strategically place their characters across the map and move from cover to cover while exchanging fire with the enemy. The game continues until one side wins. The game is said to include a 40+ hour campaign and no multiplayer.
Gears Tactics is going to be available on Microsoft Store, Steam, and Xbox Game Pass on April 28.
