Get Out is one of the best thriller movies we’ve experienced in a long time. And now fans of the film are recreating one of the film’s iconic moments in a new internet challenge.
The Get Out Challenge or #GetOutChallenge is based on a scene early in the film where Chris goes outside to smoke a cigarette. He studies the Armitage family’s home and sees a few things that are a bit off-putting to say the least. Chris looks at the forest behind the house and the groundskeeper Walter running towards him at full speed. Chris doesn’t flinch; he just watches Walter in confusion. Walter takes a quick turn just shy of almost tackling Chris. Check out the scene at the 1:00 mark in the video below.
Basically, people are just having someone record themselves running full speed at the camera then taking a quick turn, just like Walter. Check out some examples below.
Even Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors is participating in the Get Out Challenge.
But the best Get Out Challenge videos are definitely the fails. Not everyone can be as smooth as Walter, so there’s a lot of videos of people slipping as they turn.
Get Out is the brainchild of writer and comedian Jordan Peele about a black man who meets his white girlfriend’s family for the first time. The meeting seems delightful until Chris starts to notice some weird things about the family. It was the first film to receive a 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes until one reviewer ruined it for Peele. Get Out stars Daniel Kaluuya as Chris, Allison Williams as Rose Armitage, Catherine Keener as Missy Armitage, Bradley Whitford as Dean Armitage and Marcus Henderson as Walter,
