'WWE 2K25' Gets 'Mixed' Reviews on Steam; PC Players Frustrated Over Missing Features

One Steam gamer urged others to do not buy the game.

"WWE 2K25" debuted with big hopes, receiving good critiques from reviewers, and of course, the promising locker codes, but Steam customers are already complaining. Although it gets credit for great wrestling gameplay, the PC port is marred by significant setbacks and has dropped to a "Mixed" rating.

The biggest gripe? The missing content makes it feel inferior to console versions.

'WWE 2K25' Steam Reviews Drop to 'Mixed' Rating

2K/Steam

At launch, "WWE 2K25" was greeted as among the franchise's best efforts with an 82 Top Critic Average on OpenCritic. With its vast roster and a range of modes, it should have gone the distance. Though, its players on Steam were less enthralled with merely 62% of opinions favorable, GameRant highlights.

Fans welcomed "WWE 2K25 as an improvement in in-ring action and a deep wrestling experience. Yet, PC players soon realized the major flaw—the edition they have is a last-gen port that lacks major features present on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Inclusion of 'The Island' Mode Disappoints PC Players

Perhaps the most glaring exclusion from WWE 2K25's PC iteration is The Island, a new multiplayer mode found only on next-gen consoles. This much-hyped addition is not available on PC, making many gamers feel cheated, particularly since they were charged the same premium fee as console gamers.

Also, WWE 2K25's Community Creations are split across platforms, so PC players cannot play popular custom wrestlers and arenas created by PlayStation and Xbox players. This also contributes to frustrations from PC players since community-generated content has been a significant aspect of the WWE 2K experience.

PC Players Left with a Last-Gen Port?

Most reviews indicate that the PC version of "WWE 2K25" is nothing more than a last-gen port of the game, and not the full next-gen experience. This implies that not only does it miss out on The Island, but it also doesn't get the same graphical upgrades and gameplay tweaks as on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

With the complexity of implementing The Island mode after release, it's hard to see Visual Concepts including it in the PC version. This leaves a lot of gamers wondering if "WWE 2K25" on PC will ever live up to the console experience.

DLC and Future Updates: Can 'WWE 2K25' Redeem Itself?

Despite the criticism, "WWE 2K25" is far from over. 2K has already scheduled its DLC rollout, with additional content on the way throughout 2025. This might restore the game's popularity, but until major updates correct the lack of features on PC, Steam reviews are likely to trend negatively.
