Star Wars fans have been treated to lots of exciting news last weekend during the Star Wars Celebration event in Chicago just after the reveal of the title and trailer for Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. It seems like there’s good news in every corner for all the fans to enjoy, especially those who enjoy video games.
Another major announcement is the reveal of the newest trailer for Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series – Episode I, a creation of ILMxLAB and visual effect veteran Ben Snow. The experience takes players through a full-length narrative. It will be launched for the Oculus Quest untethered headset this coming spring.
The trailer for Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series – Episode I was also shown during its panel, and it highlights what we can expect for the virtual reality experience itself. It’s a bit disappointing that we won’t get to play as Vader himself, but as long as the new narrative is compelling enough, then it will still be interesting.
The virtual reality experience is set between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. It is an original narrative adventure that lets the audience play the role of a smuggler operating near Mustafar, the volcanic world that is home to Darth Vader. As you might guess, players eventually come face-to-fact with the evil Sith himself.
Scott Lawrence will once again be voicing Darth Vader after doing so in several other games. The comedian, Maya Rudolph will lend her talents by playing the role of a droid named ZOE3.
It seems that Vader Immortal still doesn’t have an official release date. The Oculus Quest, which the game was originally connected to, is expected to be released this spring, however spring has been going strong for a month now, and there is still no official release date for the all-in-one VR device. There are two more parts of the Vader Immortal trilogy, and we’ve yet to see or hear any news from those episodes.
I guess we’ll just have to wait for further announcements from ILMxLAB and hope to get our hands on that new VR series later this spring.
