Halloween is just around the corner and players cannot help but think about the next event in GTA Online. After all, Rockstar has been fond of introducing events based around the holiday over the past few years. Perhaps the only catch right now is that no one knows when it will be.
For the last four years, the annual Halloween event in GTA Online – known in-game as Halloween Surprise – has run like clockwork in October. However, given the release of Red Dead Online and RDR2 last year, some fans are doubtful about the event’s return.
With the reputation Rockstar has, it is almost impossible for the studio to ignore the idea of bringing a Halloween event to GTA Online. After all, plenty of money can still be made in one of the most popular games of all time.
Originally, the Halloween Surprise was launched as additional content for the more enhanced version of Grand Theft Auto Online. However, it gained an overwhelming popularity; hence, the studio decided to make it a recurring special event – one that is hosted every Halloween.
If you are to look at the past four years, there is an obvious pattern. This alone can help you pinpoint when the next seasonal event could go live.
Here are the dates of previous Halloween Surprise events so far:
- 2015 : October 29 - November 16
- 2016 : October 28 - November 15
- 2017 : October 27 - November 6
- 2018 : October 30 - November 5
If Rockstar will follow the pattern above, and knowing that the studio loves to update GTA V on Thursdays these days, players can easily expect the Halloween Surprise event to go live on the actual Halloween this year, October 31. The event might also run until November 7. We'll have to wait for an official announcement from Rockstar Games to know for sure how the Halloween Surprise event will be run this year.
