GTA 5 is one of the most successful games from developer Rockstar Games. And despite celebrating its six-year anniversary next week, the game is still one of this month’s best-selling video games.
Unfortunately for some fans, Rockstar has made a big reveal and it has something to do with one of the most useful features in the game. It is called the iFruit App, which will no longer be supported on some devices.
In case you are not aware, the iFruit App is basically a companion app that lets you sync GTA 5 and GTA Online. One of the most interesting features it offers is the LS Customs app, allowing you to modify your characters’ vehicles without the burden of booting up the game.
But to the dismay of some fans, Rockstar Games surprisingly announced that it would end its support for the app on Windows Store, Windows Phone, and PlayStation Vita platforms. It will, however, continue to exist on iOS devices via the Apple Store and Android devices via the Google Play Store for the foreseeable future.
In related news, Rockstar Games has just released its very own game launcher which will offer GTA: San Andreas up for free as the platform debuts.
Call the Rockstar Games Launcher, it is going to be the central hub for all things Rockstar on Windows. At launch in the store, you can buy Bully: Scholarship Edition for $14.99, Max Pain 3: Complete Edition for $34.98, L.A. Noire: Complete Edition for $29.99, Grand Theft Auto 3 for $9.99, Grand Theft Auto 5: Premium Edition for $34.98, and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for $9.99.
Once downloaded, the launcher will ask players to scan their PC for any currently installed Rockstar Games titles and pull them right into the launcher. Any saves are expected to transition into the launcher as well. In order to play these games, players will have to download the app. Furthermore, the launcher can be linked to the Rockstar Social Club account to cloud save and automatically update games.
You can now download the launcher from the official Rockstar Games website.
