Microsoft is expected to release its Windows 10 software for mobile Thursday, according to VentureBeat . The software has been delayed for approximately four months, with several potential roll out dates in January and February having passed. Microsoft has not disclosed the reason behind the delays; however, a recent email leak indicated that the company has been planning a March roll-out.
Devices including the Lumia 1520, Lumia 930, Lumia 830, Lumia 735, Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 638 and Lumia 535 are expected to begin receiving a the mobile operating system starting Thursday. Users will likely have check for the update manually , by accessing Settings > Update & security > Phone update and tapping Check for updates. However, Microsoft is expected to eventually initiate an over-the-air release.
Currently, the only devices running Windows 10 mobile include the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, which released in November, featuring the software as its native system.
Windows 10 mobile includes a feature called Continuum, which allows users to connect their handsets to a monitor, keyboard and mouse and use it as a desktop computer. Windows 10 mobile also sees the introduction of a new browser, called Microsoft Edge.
