It's been a year since World of Tanks went live on Steam. To celebrate this milestone, developer Wargaming invites everyone to an anniversary party. Steam players can join in the Anniversary Giveaway from May 13 to May 23. There are some in-game activities to enjoy, but the highlight is the free DLC which brings the Cromwell B.
A Look Back
Before we take a closer look at the free DLC, let's take a quick step back and discover the game's journey on Steam. Since it was made available on Steam, many players were able to play with each other, or against each other for that matter, through cross-play. Players got to master five different vehicle types with 11 different nations and more than 600 vehicles. There were also unique maps to explore, several of which were based on cities and fields around the world.
In a statement, Wargaming shared that the game has won four Golden Joystick awards along with two Guinness World Records for having the most players logged on simultaneously to an MMO server.
Free DLC
Those joining the celebration on Steam get the Tier VI British Cromwell tank for free. Players are sure to have fun playing with this one due to the combination of speed, rapid reload time, and maneuverability. This tank can outmaneuver or outflank enemies and provide quick help to teammates even when they're on the other side of the map. Overall, the Cromwell allows players to try different playstyles.
The tank arrives in the game courtesy of the Lightweight Fighter Pack DLC. This offer ends May 23, so be sure to grab it while you can.
Combat Missions
But wait there’s more! In the “MISSIONS” section of the Garage, players should be able to see special Anniversary Missions. There are five missions, and each can be finished consecutively. Once completed, players receive in-game resources and unique anniversary tokens as rewards.
Players can use these tokens to buy different anniversary rewards, including Garage Slots, Consumables, Credits, a Universal Manual for crews, and the Flora 2D Style. There’s also a surprise package waiting at the in-game store for everyone.
World of Tanks is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.
