The denizens of Azeroth in World of Warcraft have donned their most festive attire, as World of Warcraft's Christmas event is beginning today. If you've been looking for a good time to hop back into the game after Blizzard started rolling out holiday events for the rest of its games like Overwatch, WoW ’s wintry makeover is well worth your time.
The winter event that's turned Azeroth into a snowy wonderland with the latest update is known as the Feast of Winter Veil, which has scattered joyous, holiday-themed decorations across the major in-game cities. You'll find enormous snow globes in places like Dalaran, Ironforge and Ogrimmar as you make your way through WoW, as long as you log in from Dec. 16 to Jan. 3.
The Abominable Greench (totally a play on the Grinch, of course) will be coming back to World of Warcraft as part of the event, with plenty of goodies on offer to win if you end up taking him out. You can also complete a few Legion dungeons and raids to nab a Finely Tailored Holiday Hat.
The festivities will last the through New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, marked by special fireworks displays. You can expect some dazzling fireworks every hour each of those days at the various capitals in-game. It should be a nice spectacle. There are also plenty of holiday-themed quests to take part in, like rescuing a stolen reindeer, racking up festive holiday foods like delicious gingerbread cookies, and more. Santa Claus himself even makes an appearance as Greatfather Winter. If you complete all of the 11 new holiday achievements during the Feast of Winter Veil, you'll even be awarded a new player title: Merrymaker. How’s that for decking the halls?
The Feast of Winter Veil is a smaller part of a larger update that's been added to World of Warcraft this December. With the big Battle for Azeroth expansion coming down the pipeline, Blizzard has a lot of different content up its sleeve for release in the coming year, and the core game has to be ready for it.
