A pair of new XCOM 2 mods have been published by Long War Studios , the small team that partnered with 2K and Firaxis to create several official mods for the game, introducing a variety of new weapons and abilities for the XCOM 2 community to use against the aliens occupying Earth.
The Perk Pack is an extensive overhaul of the game’s base character stats and abilities. The mod expands XCOM 2 ’s four soldier classes into a list of seven, adding Assault, Gunner and Shinobi alongside the existing lineup. Players can also choose to create their own class(s) if the current options leave them wanting. The Perk Pack also introduces 70-plus new abilities, along with rebalanced versions of existing skills, and increases the player’s number of skill choices (after leveling) from two to three.
In addition to the Perk Pack, Long War Studios published a new weapon mod for XCOM 2 called the Laser Pack. As you might expect, the Laser Pack expands the number of laser weapons that players can build for their soldiers, sliding a new tier of firearms between the magnetic and beam weapons featured in the base game. The XCOM 2 mod includes a new assault rifle, cannon, pistol, shotgun, sniper rifle and SMG -- along with attachments for all six -- each of which has its own unique model, particle effects, etc.
Both of the new XCOM 2 mods are currently available in the Steam Workshop , alongside all the rest of Long War Studios’ creations and the hundreds of creations uploaded by the rest of the XCOM 2 community. There’s currently no word on if/when we can expect the next round of mods from Long War Studios, who will presumably return to work on Terra Invicta at some point.
