Young Justice Season 2 ended in Nov. 2013 and fans have been begging DC Entertainment to continue the series ever since. It looks like creator Greg Weismen’s step-by-step plan to revive the series has paid off. After months of petitions, speculation and bingeing of the first two seasons on Netflix, Warner Bros. has officially announced Young Justice Season 3. The announcement unveils a poster and promises ‘new twists, turns and dangerous new threats for the team, but most importantly, the opportunity for fans to finally continue the adventures of some of their favorite Super Heroes.”
A specific release date and network partner has not been announced, but Warner Bros. did say the third season has entered production. Say what you will about the live action films, but the animated world tends to be the DCEU’s better half. Young Justice developed a cult following during its time on Cartoon Network and once both seasons hit Netflix, new and old fans demanded more.
“The affection that fans have had for Young Justice , and their rallying cry for more episodes, has always resonated with us,” said Sam Register, President of Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series, in a statement. "We are excited to bring the show back for this loyal fanbase and to provide an opportunity for new viewers to discover this excellent series.”
The official series synopsis reads, “In Young Justice, the teenage Super Heroes of the DC Universe come of age in a world of super powers, Super-Villains and super secrets. Used strategically as the secret covert weapon of the Justice League, Nightwing, Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and a host of others strive to prove to their legendary mentors, as well as to themselves, that they have what it takes to be heroes.” Original producers Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman are both returning.
