Acquire’s strip action role-playing game, Akiba’s Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed, will be published in the West courtesy of XSEED Games for PlayStation 4 and PC.
Akiba’s Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed is here to knock you off your feet, so you better be ready. Akiba’s Trip made players strip Shadow Souls to expose them to the deadly sunlight, and Hellbound & Debriefed remasters the experience for a first-time western release. After the major success of Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed in Japan, the developers decided to remake the original title using the modern engine to bring back the spirit of “beat ‘em up and strip ‘em down” gameplay for the fans.
Akiba's Trip is a Japanese video game franchise first developed and published in 2011 by Acquire for PlayStation Portable. An updated version soon came out the year after entitled Akiba’s Trip Plus. The second installment released in the same year for Android and iOS through the GREE platform. This version was called Akiba’s Trip for Gree. However, it was cancelled a few months after its release.
Akiba’s Trip: Undead and Undressed, the third installment, released for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in 2013 and for PlayStation 4 in 2014 in Japan. Take note that this installment was a major success, garnering over 500,000 sold copies all over the world. In 2016, the fourth installment arrived for Android and PC, called Akiba’s Trip Festa. The fifth is the first action role-playing game in the series, Akiba’s Beat. It was released for PlayStation 4 in late 2016 and for PlayStation Vita in early 2017 in Japan. It was followed by a western release not long after.
Akiba's Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed is currently still in development, but is one of the titles that XSEED Games will be bringing along for its E3 2019 lineup. As such, we can expect to hear more from it during the event, and attendees will be able to see it in action for the first time. Expect to hear more coverage from us as soon as any news drops.
