It seems like Apex Legends players are always treated well because another exciting event for the popular battle royale game went live a few hours ago. The developer released the Sun Squad Collection event, which brings a new limited-time mode, 24 cosmetic items, one new heirloom, and more.

Watch out for the sun in the new mode called Heatwave. The normal rules of Trios mode are applied but with a twist. Throughout the match, players can take damage from heat waves that will occur randomly. To avoid taking damage, you will need to seek shelter or hide under cover; sliding also protects you from taking damage. The size of Heatshields has been increased as well, which should be great news for anyone stuck outside. Keep in mind that using Heatshields outside the ring is useless as they will be destroyed quickly.

Just like previous events, the Sun Squad Collection event also brings exciting new cosmetic items. A total of 24 exclusive items are available including Legendary skins for Ash, Mirage, and Fuse. You can purchase them via Apex Coins or Crafting Metals and in Sun Squad Collection Event Apex Packs. If you get all 24 items, you will get access to Ash’s “Strongest Link” Heirloom.

The patch also brought a handful of balancing changes.

WEAPON CRAFTING
  • EVA-8 enters the replicator
  • 30-30 Repeater enters the replicator
  • Longbow DMR returns to the floor
  • Volt SMG returns to the floor
LEGENDS UPDATE
Ash - Arc Snare
  • Cooldown decreased from 25s to 20s
  • Travel speed increased from 700 to 1200
  • Tether activation delay and snare grow time decreased by about 50% (The Arc Snare will more reliably hit intended targets)
QUALITY OF LIFE
  • Hide in-world item UI’s when aiming down the sight
  • Hide in-world crafting UI’s in the center of the screen when aiming down the sight

You can read more about the new event via the official site, which also contains details about all the bug fixes that the patch introduced. In other news, the mobile version of Apex Legends will shut down very soon; more details are available in our previous story.
