Apex Legends is all set to launch its latest System Override Collection event tomorrow, March 3. This event offers a limited time mode, an exclusive event prize track, and an event limited premium cosmetic. Don't take too long, as the event ends on March 17.
Let's start with the Limited Time Mode which is aptly titled as Deja Loot. In this mode, a glitch in the system has resulted in all of the loot spawning in the same location each match for the entirety of the event. While the plane path and circle locations are going to be fixed, they're still going to change on a daily basis. The loot, however, is in the same position for the duration of the event. During the first week, Deja Loot is going to take all Legends to World's Edge. After that, the second week then shifts to Kings Canyon.
In a post, Respawn Entertainment said that goal was "to create a short term meta shakeup and reward players for learning the new progression."
This new LTM also marks the debut of a new equipment type known as the Evo Shield. Players that pick up this item are going to find out that its weaker compared to the Common Body Shield (White). However, with this equipment, doing damage to non-downed players throughout the match causes the Evo Shield to grow more powerful and eventually become even stronger than an Epic Body Shield (Purple). It's also going to be easy to identify what stage the shield is in since it changes color as it progresses. Even more interesting is that the progress of the Evo Shield carries over from one player to another, which should make for some interesting late game plays.
Respawn added that they are hoping to get feedback on the Evo Shield since at the start it's going to "be exclusive to the Deja Loot gamemode and spawn at higher rates; after the event we’ll consider adding the Evo Shield to all matches."
The Exclusive Event Prize Track is nothing new, as it was first introduced back in January during the Grand Soiree Arcade Event. This new prize track system had players earn more rewards along with more ways to earn them. This time, players can earn as much as 1,000 points per challenge set and now the challenge set refreshes at a daily rate. There are also different challenges that can be completed in the LTM or in any mode, which should give everyone some freedom in terms of their progression.
The System Override Collection Event is coming with another set of 24 themed, limited-time cosmetics.
