Ark: Survival Evolved update 503 has just released on PS4 after a slight delay, and it brings new Dinos and procedurally generated maps to the game. The patch notes, courtesy of the game’s official forums, largely resemble the v253 patch on PC.
For those who missed it before, here’s the full list of included changes.
- Added Procedurally Generated Maps mode!
- Switched to new memory allocator for much more efficient memory usage (resolves any OOM crashes) and better performance
- New Dino: Cnidaria!
- New Dino: Troodon!
- New Dino: Tusoteuthis!
- New Dino: Pegomastax!
- New Dino: Therizinosaurus!
- 2 New Full-Scale Underwater Caves (progression-oriented with Artifacts!)
- * All PC equivalent content up & functionality through v253.x
The two updates unique to Sony’s console are, of course, the top two bullets. PGM mode has been on Xbox and other platforms in the past, so it makes sense it would eventually come to Sony’s console. The mentioned memory fixes aim to fully resolve blue screen crashes that were plaguing PS4 players over the last few days.
Other than those few specific tweaks, the rest should be fairly ordinary and expected. The PC build got a special Raptor Claus event because it launched during the holiday season, but you won’t see that today. The Xbox One version of this particular update launched Tuesday, and the PS4 build was briefly delayed by certification holdups at Sony. However, now we have basic parity across all major platforms where Ark: Survival Evolved is playable.
That will change when PC version 254 releases later this month. It’s planned to include a collection of new Dinos, the Tek Tier of items and funky hairstyle choices.
Ark: Survival Evolved is available now on PC, Xbox One, PS4, OS X and Linux. Be sure to check out our v253 guide for tips on taming all the new Dinos.
