Ark: Survival Evolved for Xbox One has a brand new update that was just released. The 749 patch aligns the console version with v253 on PC. Patch notes from Studio Wildcard reveal the new Dinos and other additions.
The full patch notes are shown in the tweet below and listed as follows:
- New Dino Cnidaria
- New Dino Troodon
- New Dino Tusoteuthis
- New Dino Pegomastax
- New Dino: Therizinosaurus
- 2 New Full-Scale Underwater Caves (progression-oriented with Artifacts!)
These notes, again, mirror the v253 PC notes that went live towards the end of December. As of now, the changes have been applied to all servers for Microsoft’s machine. The patch notes also mention memory tweaks that improve performance despite the addition of new creatures and locations. Towards the beginning of January, Studio Wildcard expressed intent to release the 749 update on Jan 16. The fixes arrive just one day beyond that previous estimate.
As for PS4, a patch adding the new Dinos and procedurally generated maps should be live very soon. The patch is currently being certified by Sony, so it should go live over the next few hours or days. We anticipate that, in addition to adding features, issues with blue screens and crashes will be addressed as well.
One of the most notable perks of this update is that most of its new Dinos offer unique taming methods. The Troodon for example, can be domesticated based on loyalty. The Tusoteuthis is an aggressive squid with a passive taming procedure. Working with each of these newcomers is lots of fun. Check out our guide with tips to help get each of them.
Ark: Survival Evolved is available now on PC, Xbox One, PS4, OS X and Linux. Once this update is dispatched, there should be content parity across platforms.
