Arknights is ready to celebrate the first anniversary of its global release. There will be a series of events like an art contest and music collaborations. Players can also join in-game events and get a chance to claim different rewards. An Episode 7 update is also set to release as part of the celebration.
This tower defense game was developed for the mobile platform and first released in China in May 2019. It was later launched worldwide on January 16, 2020.
Rewards are Coming
The upcoming anniversary event is set to offer a bunch of in-game giveaways. Beginning December 30, for example, players get one free roll each day for two weeks. They also get additional login rewards. Players can get Operator Savage to be sent through the in-game mail. After that, a sign-in event will reward players with gifts like a free Amiya outfit.
For those who have been looking forward to new operators, there’s some good news. W (Limited), Weedy, and Elysium are going to be available at headhunting.
Update Arriving
Episode 7, titled The Birth of Tragedy, is ready in time for the celebration. For this new episode, players get to fight against the rather disciplined army that’s led by the Patriot. This will provide a deeper understanding of the conflict between Reunion and Rhodes Island.
Additionally, the update is introducing six brand new outfits to the Store. There’s even a new Sarkaz furniture set offered as well.
Live Stream and Soundtracks
In celebration of the anniversary, Arknights players were treated to a YouTube livestream. Guests included the game developer and the voice actors and actresses of different characters. Two-time Grammy-nominated DJ/producer Steve Aoki and Dutch DJ Duo Yellow Claw even made an appearance.
Those who joined the livestream also heard for the first time the Jeff Williams X Arknights theme song. A teaser of the Steve Aoki and Yellow Claw collab soundtrack for Episode 7 was shown during the stream.
Arknights X DeviantArt Contest
It didn't stop there as Arknights managed to partner with DeviantArt, one of the largest online art communities. A fan art contest has been conducted with more than $18,000 in prizes up for grabs. The goal of this special event is pretty much for artists to show their own versions of the game’s operators as well as participate in the celebration.
New Merch
Arknights announced that Steve Aoki’s label, Dim Mak, is set to have a collection of merch just in time for the celebration. There's the 1st Anniversary Art Book along with other merch.
There’s no question that it’s going to be an interesting new year for Arknights players.
