Whenever a new fighting game comes out, there’s always a rush to figure out which characters are the best and which are terrible. Nobody wants to be at a disadvantage because their avatar just doesn’t stack up against the rest of the playing field. ARMS, Nintendo’s version of a competitive fighter, might not be like any other game, but players still want to know who is best.
I’ve been tinkering with the game since the Test Punch, though I wouldn’t call myself a ranking expert. Thankfully, there are people online, like AbdallahSmash026, who have a much wider knowledge of the game. Using his list, combined with my own experiences and posts I’ve found online, I’ve managed to rank the top five ARMS fighters, though most of you will heavily disagree with my choices.
Keep in mind that if you like an ARMS fighter, you should still play them. Tier lists are nice for fans to see who everyone else thinks is good, but you might have a strategy nobody’s even thought of. The game is still new and the meta will change with each passing day. Just because I consider Helix to be bad, doesn’t mean he is to you. Try a fighter with different weapons before disregarding it.
Top Tier
Min Min- The noodle dragon flinging fighter is arguably the best in the entire ARMS line up. Her ability knocks away airborne Arms while she is dashing, a powerful ability that can turn the tides of any fight. Her damage and range can’t be beat, with her dragon arm dealing 130 damage after a charge. Mobile fighters usually come out ahead, and Min Min is miles above the rest.
Ribbon Girl- The first ARMS fighter I picked up also happens to be the one I’m still playing. Her multiple jump ability allows her to weave in and out of fights, dodging any enemy trying to slap her out of the game. She’s got high base damage with her grab, a strong ultimate and good zoning potential.
Middle Of The Pack
Byte And Barq- The robotic police duo ready to thwart crime are a lot better than people give them credit for. They aren’t as fast as Min Min or as powerful as Master Mummy, but they make up for it with their teamwork, awesome grab and special ability. Having a random punching glove pop out when your enemy doesn’t see it coming isn’t bad either.
Ninjara- I hate this spiky haired Naruto clone, but there’s no doubting his power. Teleporting away from enemy Arms while going in for a sneak attack isn’t a bad combo. He’s fast, he does tons of damage and if you know when to strike, he can be a potent assassin. The ninja school map is still the worst to play on, which is why I’ll never be a fan of Go Ninja Go.
Twintelle- The winner of Nintendo’s ARMS Invitational used this glamorous diva to pummel the competition. With her fists made of hair and her ability to slow down time, she’s a formidable adversary for those who know to use her. I’m personally awful at Twintelle, missing all of her attacks and screwing up her passive whenever I play as her. Still, watching her in the hands of a skilled professional shows me that she’s got more potential than I originally thought.
