Last week, Lilith game studio released a brand new MMORTS, Art of Conquest , on iOS. The game is both beautiful and immersive, as players work to build their kingdom, expand their armies and explore new lands. While those familiar with the genre will find it easy enough to get started with Art of Conquest , one thing missing from the game has been any kind of documentation on heroes, races, gameplay tips, strategy and other topics of interest to new players. If you’ve just started playing Art of Conquest and aren’t really sure what’s happening in the game but enjoy playing it, we’ve put together a small guide of tips to help you make greater progress. Check them out.
Art of Conquest Beginner’s Guide: Tips To Choosing Heroes, Races, Leveling Up And More
Tip #1: Pick A Hero That Suits Your Playstyle
The game begins by picking from one of three Heroes (more are unlocked or recruited later) and while many people agonize over which Hero to pick, basically you need to go with your playstyle to make the decision, as every hero has different strengths. Rufio is all brute. Avril is an ice queen who freezes enemies and stirs fear in their hearts with her magic. Meanwhile, Avalon has a terrific support system to help him win battles. Many say Rufio is the best starter hero, but I’m personally fond of Avalon because of his ability to put an extra legion of troops on the ground. Plus his archers add the extra ‘umph’ I’ve been thankful for in so many situations. This can give you a big advantage early in the game. I’ll soon be posting another article that shows all the Art of Conquest Heroes’ abilities, so you can get a better idea of how each one operates before you make your decision, so check back soon for the link. Either way, if you pick a hero and decide it’s not a good match for you, don’t worry. You’ll unlock or recruit other heroes pretty quickly.
Tip #2: Make Sure You’ve Trained Plenty Of Troops Before Changing Races
You may be tempted to change your race as soon as the option becomes available, but I would warn against doing that too quickly. In my opinion, it’s best to build and level up your starter troops first, just to see what they are able to do. In my early game, I started out as human but quickly switched to dwarf, which has a lot of powerful kinds of troops. Unfortunately, I did it before building up a decent supply of archers, and I regretted that. You see, if you change races and some troops die that are not of that race, you can’t train any more of them unless you change races again. In short, get to know which troops you consider most valuable in your starter race, make sure to have a decent supply of those trained to a good level and then consider changing races.
Which Race Is Best? – I’ve seen a lot of people asking this question, and in my experience, the Dwarf and Humans have been really helpful in the early game. There are some places you’ll find as you explore the world where you can recruit other troops like Elven archers or Maidens. If you make a point to work with either dwarfs or humans in the early game, you’re sure to do well.
Tip #3: Keep Building
As you explore the world, you’ll gather resources to level up your castle and add new buildings to your empire. You should try to keep some kind of construction going at all times. Not only will it increase your prosperity rating, it will also allow you to train stronger troops, add more troops to your army, and increase the amount of resources you earn per hour along with other perks.
Tip #4: Gather All Daily Resources
Resources can be won by participating in various battles, and there are also a lot of free resources available in the store and on your map. Here are a few of the resources you should be sure to collect each day.
Mythril Chests – You can purchase these with Linari, but you also get two free roughly every two days or so. These chests contain valuable resources like new heroes, weapons, armor, experience points and various currency used in the game. Every time you log in, it’s a good idea to check if a Mythril Chest is ready to unlock.
Mines – If you go to the map view of what you’ve explored in the World so far, you will see some blue exclamation points. These mark various mines throughout the land with resources you can send back to your capital. Mines can contain gold, mythril, blood rubies, elixir and more and become available for transport after a certain number of hours. The more valuable resources you may want to escort back to your kingdom, to keep robbers from stealing them.
Loose Loot – Most loot lying on the ground out in the world requires fighting battles but you can find some loose loot lying around in pools, wheelbarrows or just on the ground. If you don’t have enough troops or hero points to do battle, that’s a great time to go scavenging for free loot.
Tip #5: In Battle, Think Carefully About Your Formations And Troops
In terms of battle strategies, if you have enough strength to win a battle but for some reason keep losing, take a few minutes to think about troop placement. For example, you don’t want to place your archers at the very front of battle as they are ranged fighters with lower health points. Also, if you take a few moments to look through the information about each of your troops in the army tab, you’ll find some perform particularly well against certain enemy types.
Tip #6: Consider Using More Than One Hero
In terms of heroes, something I didn’t realize right away is that you can use more than one hero in battle. If you have a particular hero that isn’t your favorite but has a bunch of energy points, go ahead and throw him or her in there behind your chosen hero. It will not only increase your overall team power, but also will allow you to deploy even more troops. Plus, each battle won adds more experience to heroes. Once he or she has unlocked more abilities, a hero you despised could later become a favorite.
