Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is fully embracing its Greek mythologies, and I, for one, can’t wait to play it again.
Ubisoft released the trailer for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s newest DLC, The Fate of Atlantis, yesterday, and I can’t help but feel like they have outdone themselves with the sheer scale of this game.
The story looks like it moves away from its historical setting into pure mythology. This is a good move on the part of Ubisoft and could be a new draw for older players who have grown somewhat tired of the fictionalized historical settings. From the trailer, the story looks like it will be set in a whole new area where gods, heroes, and mythological creatures reside. This brings new possibilities within the realm of gameplay as well, as the DLC arc introduces ability enhancements, which allow players to modify the functions of their existing abilities.
The Fate of Atlantis will be divided into three episodes, with the first one named Fields of Elysium. According to the announcement made by Ubisoft, the next two episodes will go deeper into “the great mysteries that lie within the ancient realm of the gods.”
To play The Fate of Atlantis, players need to complete both the Between Two Worlds questline and the Heir of Memories questline. This second questline is from the Lost Tales of Greece DLC that has already been released. Players also need to be at least level 28 to access the new Fate of Atlantis content.
If you haven't met all those requirements, Ubisoft has created a special shortcut that brings players straight into the world of The Fate of Atlantis. This shortcut brings players up to level 52, complete with a preset selection of upgraded abilities. This shortcut still requires players to complete the Heir of Memories questline. It should be noted that this shortcut disables achievements and trophies if you are into that kind of thing.
This is good news for those looking to get into the DLC without slogging through the grindfest in the main game, and will also incentivize some other players into playing through the main game as well.
The Fate of Atlantis is already included in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s $39.99 season pass, so any season pass owners can play it once released on April 23. The DLC by itself is also available for $24.99. The subsequent episodes in the DLC – Torment of Hades and Judgment of Atlantis – are set to be released in mid-2019.
