It looks like Assassin’s Creed Unity is just the latest in a growing list of games to be review-bombed on Steam, although for the first time ‘it’s a good thing’.
Following the fire that gutted much of the architecture of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, Ubisoft, a French video game company, went on to release a statement of their commitment to the rebuilding efforts of the centuries-old landmark. The company gave away Assassin’s Creed Unity for free on its Uplay store on PC, as well as donated €500,000 to the various restoration efforts for the cathedral.
This free release gave both new and returning players a chance to experience the city of Paris during its Revolution era, and it features one of the most faithful recreations of the famed Notre Dame Cathedral ever to be put on media.
Naturally, Steam players took to flocking its review page on the platform, commending efforts made by Ubisoft in the name of solidarity. This was a nice change of pace considering all the review-bombings where Steam was involved have been, for the most part, towards the negative. Review-bombing, for those of you who don’t know, is one of the most popular efforts of a portion of the gaming community at large to make their voices heard about problems and issues with a game, or in some cases its developers and/or publishers.
Here are some of the latest positive reviews at the time of writing:

Up vote for Notre Dame and the cooperation. For all its flaws at launch it's a really beautifully designed open world and probably the best example of what the "pure" pre-rpg Assassin's Creed formula.

Game free on Uplay until the 25th of April 2019. The publisher also donated money for the restoration of the recently burned Notre Dame in Paris and wishes for anyone capable to do so too.

The game still has it's glitches and what not, but if you can look past that there is a lot of beautiful work and dedication that has been put into this game. The game make a solid effort to capture the French Revolution, and as someone who is a huge fan of history in general, it has so much to offer. Gameplay mechanics have been improved considerably from previous games, parkour in particular. When the game goes on sale (or is free like it is right now in support of the Notre Dame incident) grab a copy and give it a shot, it's worth your while.
Assassin’s Creed Unity is available for free on the Uplay store until April 25, so if you want to experience the city of Paris in a small but commendably intricate scale, now is your chance to do so. The game itself, in my opinion, is worth playing, especially after fixes have been made to address its multitudes of launch issues. It also serves as one of the last games to feature the OG Assassin’s Creed game design, before Origins and Odyssey turned the series into an RPG.
