BAFTA award-winning mobile game Florence is making its way to PC, Mac, and Nintendo Switch on February 13. The game is an interactive story developed by Australian studio Mountains and published by Annapurna Interactive. It was initially launched for iOS on February 14, 2018, and then was ported to Android one month later. The game was acclaimed from both fans and critics. Although sales were “okay”, it won several awards like “Best Mobile Game” at The Game Awards 2018 and other prestigious awards at DICE Awards, BAFTAs, and the GDC Awards. You can watch the trailer of the game below:
The game puts you in the shoes of 25-year-old Florence Yeoh, as it follows her journey through 20 different chapters. Chapters are smaller in size and have very little written dialogue. The game is heavily narrative-focused and features puzzles to keep players intrigued.
“There’s no dialogue or narration. It plays out a bit like a comic without words, which I’m a fan of, but also a bit like a silent movie or a music video, where you’re going to be reading a lot into body language and how these characters move throughout the world and looking through their possessions,” Ken Wong, lead developer of Florence, said in a press statement.
As mentioned earlier, Florence will be available on Microsoft Windows, macOS and Nintendo Switch next week. The game will release on Steam and GOG for only $6 and will also include an amazing soundtrack that you can listen to on Spotify. Publisher Annapurna called the game “short, but deeply meaningful”, with an average player able to finish the game within 30 minutes. You can learn more about Florence on its official website.
