Released on January 15, 2025, "The Roottrees are Dead" is a mystery puzzle game developed by Robin Ward and published by Evil Trout.
The premise of the game starts with a plane crash, and members of the Roottree family are killed. However, the parents and the three daughters are not just anyone. Their net worth is over a billion dollars.
With their wealth due to be redistributed to the rest of the family, the player's job is to determine who the actual blood relatives are. The player will have to go through photos, articles, and many more to determine who's a relative and who's faking it.

As of writing, "The Roottrees are Dead" has more than 700 user reviews on Steam. Steam has categorized these reviews as "Overwhelmingly Positive."
"Honestly I played through the entire game in one maddening brain powered session and I don't regret it at all," a Steam user named Rer said in a review. "Game has tons of really funny one-liners, excellent narrative structure, logical puzzles, and you feel really rewarded when you make some educated guesses, and they end up being correct."
'Wonderfully constructed and one of the very few games in recent memory that I kept thinking about and puzzling over in between play sessions," Steam user Scrashii said in a separate review.
