Balan Wonderworld is releasing a free demo on January 28 and it offers two hours of gameplay. The game has a single-player mode but even with the demo version, players can enjoy it with friends and family through local co-op mode.
The Three Worlds
Balan Wonderworld has twelve magical worlds but the demo will let players experience at least three of them.
The first is “World 1 – The Man Who Rages Against the Storm” with playable areas Act 1, Act 2, and Boss Battle. This world is set on a farm that’s made up of hills and giant crops. This particular world is taken from the memories that are inside the heart of Jose Gallard. Gallard is a farmer whose cornfield has been struck by a storm. Lurking in this world, however, is Barktholomew, the embodiment of Gallard’s despair when he saw his cornfield destroyed.
In order to complete the level, players need to make use of different costumes. There’s the Jumping Jack costume which allows players to, well, jump and reach places that are hard to reach. Don’t forget to try out the Dainty Dragon costume that lets players use fiery breath to clear everything in its path.
The second is “World 4 – The Boy Who Would be One with the Wind” with a playable area Act 1. This world is born from the heart of Chang Haoyu and his love of the open sky. Here, players get to see floating islands and even bicycle parts, scattered across the sky.
Costumes in World 4 include Soaring Sheep that lets players float. The Aero Acrobat costume, meanwhile, allows players to not only soar through the sky but also aim and kick at balloons as well as enemies.
Finally, there’s “World 6 – The Girl and the Kitten” with also one playable area Act 1. This world is a bit different as it follows the story of Cass Milligan. Built from Milligan’s memories, the world has books and candy pieces floating in the air. There are even mysterious buildings that have moving gears.
Costumes that can help players clear this level is the Gear Prince, which can spin switches. The Pumpkin Puncher costume, on the other hand, shoots a rocket punch.
Extra Access
The demo isn’t limited to the three worlds as players can also access the Isle of Tims. This is a base area and serves as the gateway to the three worlds mentioned. Here, several magical creatures known as Tims possess abilities that are sure to help players. There are also magical droplets that when fed to the Tims let them evolve their abilities.
Balan Wonderworld is coming out on March 26 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The game will launch as well on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game is priced at $59.99 and you can pre-order it here.
