Beyond Good And Evil 2 has been in development for quite some time, and has burst back onto the gaming scene thanks to a show-stealing trailer at the Ubisoft press conference. However, there are still a huge number of questions about the game, with one of the biggest being “what console will this be on?”
Before E3, there had been a number of rumors floating around suggesting that Beyond Good And Evil 2 was funded by Nintendo. Another rumor reported the goal was for Beyond Good And Evil 2 to be a Switch-exclusive game, or at least a timed exclusive. Seeing as how no consoles were revealed at the end of the game’s E3 2017 trailer, the mystery is still alive.
If you want to know more information about the game, Ubisoft prompted fans to create an Ubisoft account and sign up for the Space Monkey Program. This is basically just a newsletter that will send out game information as it gets announced. However, when going to sign up, you are prompted to “select your preferred platform,” and the options are PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
Wait a second, the Switch isn’t even mentioned at all! It’s pretty safe to say the Switch-exclusive rumors are definitely fake, and the funding rumors might not be real as well. Why would Nintendo fund a game that isn’t coming to its consoles?
Fans took to Instagram to talk to the game’s director Michel Ancel. In the post above, Ancel responded to fan questions asking about the Space Monkey Program’s sign-up page and more. “Hi , that registering thing is a little buggy as we did not mention any consoles yet. The Ubi Soft teams are going to fix this asap ;),” Ancel commented on his post.
Ancel also responded to a different question, pretty much shutting down the Switch-exclusive hopes. “Hi , no Switch exclusive as far as I know,” Ansel replied to Instagram user @seyedsadegh93.
As for what consoles Beyond Good And Evil 2 will actually end up on, it looks like we’ll have to keep waiting on an announcement from Ubisoft.
So what do you think? Are you bummed to know the Switch isn’t getting a big exclusive like Beyond Good And Evil 2? Are you excited to see the game (probably) coming to all consoles? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
