Developer Game Science confirmed that the physical editions for PlayStation 5 of Black Myth: Wukong will be released on Dec. 12, 2024.
The launch would also mark the first time that the highly popular soulslike action role-playing game will become available on Sony's modern generation console as a physical disc. This comes as the game's Collector's Edition only included a downloadable code.
Black Myth: Wukong's Physical Edition for PS5
In a post on X by the official PM Studios account, it confirmed that the physical copies of the game for the PlayStation will arrive later this year. The studio was also asked if Dec. 12, 2024, would also be the release date for UK users, to which it replied, "Yep!"
When the news was first revealed, it was still unclear whether the game's physical edition would come with any bonuses for players.
However, it has been confirmed that it will be coming with the "deluxe edition upgrade" as well as the base version of Black Myth: Wukong, according to Eurogamer.
The deluxe edition of the game also comes with the Bronzecloud Staff weapon, Wind Chimes curio, and the Folk Opera armor set. It would also give players access to a "selected" digital soundtrack for the game.
Microsoft also confirmed that the delay of Black Myth: Wukong's release on Xbox consoles was not due to "platform limitations." This comes as the game was released on PC and PlayStation 5 in August 2024, but still does not have an Xbox version.
Coming Soon to Xbox Platforms
Game Science's latest action role-playing game was a smash hit among players as it got more than $1 billion in revenue on Steam alone in less than two months from release. This number does not even consider the sales for PlayStation 5 consoles, Game Rant said.
A lot of the game's fans have been eagerly waiting to get a physical version since it was first announced as a digital-only game at launch. Many people previously expected that the physical version would be released in October 2024 in the United States.
However, a particular date, Oct. 21, 2024, was actually for the opening of pre-orders for the physical edition of the game instead of the actual launch. The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) also released a mid-October rating for Xbox Series X/S.
This could point to an Xbox version of Black Myth: Wukong coming soon to Microsoft's gaming platform. This is after an extended delay in its release, according to MSN.
