Many have rejoiced when Astro Bot was hailed of Game of the Year at the recently concluded The Game Awards 2024.

Maybe except the producer of Black Myth: Wukong.

Feng Ji, the CEO of developer Game Science and the developer of Black Myth: Wukong, took to social media to air his thoughts about his game not being hailed Game of the Year.

"I Feel Like I Came All the Way Here for Nothing!'

Feng Ji took to Chinese social media site Weibo to air his sentiments about his experience attending The Game Awards.

"The games nominated this year were all exceptional, but honestly, I still can't figure out what the criteria were for Game of the Year," the producer said, according to translated text provided by Polygon. "I feel like I came all the way here for nothing!"

This year's The Game Awards was held in Los Angeles, California.

"I completely understand these feelings and share the frustration, because behind these emotions lies not pain or malice, but dignity and confidence," he added later in the post. "When you're so confident and yet don't receive the recognition you expected, it's natural to feel upset."

'Black Myth: Wukong' Won Two Awards

While it did not win Game of the Year, Black Myth: Wukong won two other awards at The Game Awards. It was awarded as the Best Action Game as well as the Players' Voice award.

The Game Science CEO acknowledged the game's nominations in his Weibo post.

"The four nominations (Best Action Game, Best Art Direction, Best Game Direction, and Game of the Year) were a first for a Chinese game," he said.

"Yet, I must admit, there's a sense of loss and regret," the CEO added. "More than anything, though, there's a letting go of illusions."
