Right before this year’s E3, a strange posting on Game Informer started a rumor that Rockstar was going to reveal a new Bully game. Now that E3 is over, that obviously didn’t happen. However, recent leaks suggest Bully 2 could still be a possibility, or at least was a possibility at one point.
A Twitter account has been created named “@Bully2Info.” There are only five tweets from the account, but four of them contain a number of pieces of artwork that look like they could be concept art for Bully 2.
Two of the tweets show character art, while the other two show off environmental art. The characters include a nerdy kid wearing a life jacket out of water, a crazed war vet who lives in the woods, nerds, goths, jocks and an amputee mailman.
As for the environments, pictures range from quiet suburban streets to a lovingly run-down backyard and even a creepy abandoned house. An interesting thing to note about the environmental shots: none of them feature a school. Going to class was a main gameplay feature of the original Bully, so it seems odd a school setting isn’t seen in any of these concepts.
While these pieces of art could theoretically be for anything, there is one tie-in found that directly relates to the first Bully. In the picture below, you can see a crude drawing in the destroyed house that reads “Jimmy’s Dad.” This could either be a reference to Bully protagonist Jimmy’s actual dad, or even a reference to Gary’s fake rumor suggesting The Hobo is Jimmy’s father.
Before we go nuts at the prospect of a new Bully game, let’s think about this first. These concept sketches seem too good to be fake, but they don’t necessarily have to be for a Bully game. Whatever these sketches are for, it isn’t immediately obvious just by looking at them. There is only one link ties them to Bully, albeit very tenuously.
If these sketches are for Bully 2, they could be old images from a project Rockstar has long since left behind. It’s possible Bully 2 was in the works and was cancelled, leading to a developer or someone close to the project to leak out these images.
For more information, we’ll just have to keep an eye on @Bully2Info and the Rockstar Newswire.
So what do you think? Are you excited that these images could suggest a Bully 2 is in the works? Do you think these images are fake or for some other game? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
