After a month of rumors, leaks, and teases, Activision has finally revealed the first trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The publisher has also confirmed the release date for the upcoming game in the popular franchise.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be releasing on November 13 and serves as a direct sequel to the original Black Ops. The game will also offer three gameplay modes, which include the single-player campaign, the multiplayer, and the return of Zombies. The Zombies mode is said to focus on "dark Cold War experiences," specifically designed for co-op gameplay.
Apart from the official reveal, a bunch of new information regarding Black Ops Cold War has also surfaced across the internet. A dataminer has suggested that the game will not offer a free next-gen upgrade, and if you wish to play the game on next-gen consoles, you'll have to buy the cross-gen bundle, which costs an extra $10.
It has also been unofficially revealed that the online component of the game was developed by Treyarch and the single-player campaign was completely handled by Raven Software. Previously, Raven Software has assisted other primary Call of Duty developers like Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games, and Treyarch, but this is the first time that Raven will be handling the entire single-player project by itself.
The trailer also stated that Black Ops Cold War will be getting a worldwide multiplayer reveal on September 9, at which point we will also learn more about the game and when the open beta will become available. The open beta will first launch for PS4 users before coming to PC and Xbox One, and pre-ordering will also grant you early access.
Players can also expect to learn more about the Zombie mode at some point in the future.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will release on November 13 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game are also in development.
