Earlier today, the official Call of Duty Twitter account posted a teaser confirming that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be announced at 1:30 PM EDT on August 26. The game will be announced within Call of Duty's ever-popular battle royale, Call of Duty: Warzone. Expect a more traditional trailer to also be available online around the same time.
The teaser posted on Twitter shows a clip that looks similar to the beginning of a match in Warzone. There are also several rumors that state that the Verdansk map will see an overhaul, reflecting the Cold War tone and style of the upcoming Call of Duty game.
On a similar note, a leaked image indicates that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's next-gen upgrade won't be a free one. ModernWarzone, a reputable dataminer was able to uncover the in-game advertisement from Warzone's latest update. The advertisement indicates that players will have to purchase either the 'Cross-Gen Bundle' or 'Ultimate Edition' of Black Ops Cold War to get both the current and next-gen versions. The leaked advertisement doesn't detail the pricing, but it can be assumed that the next-gen bundle will retail at a higher price.
Speaking of the cross-gen bundle, NBA 2K21 has officially priced its next-gen and cross-gen bundles of the game at $70 and $99 respectively. The same could be true for the upcoming Call of Duty game as well.
Despite Xbox encouraging developers to offer both current and next-gen versions of the game for free, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has chosen not to support Xbox's Smart Delivery. Developers who don't wish to support Smart Delivery can sell a two-game 'cross-gen bundle', which includes both the current Xbox One and the next-gen Xbox Series X versions of the game.
Nonetheless, many other games have chosen to support Xbox's Smart Delivery, including FIFA 21, Destiny 2, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and Cyberpunk 2077.
Additionally, if you pre-order Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, you'll also gain access to memorable character Frank Woods in Warzone.
