It’s all systems go for the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on October 28. However, before the official launch, there’s a chance to try the game ahead of others with early access on Steam from September 22 to September 23, and open beta from September 24 to September 26.
To enjoy the early access on PC, players need to pre-purchase the game on Steam. For the open beta, PC players can access it regardless of what their pre-order status is.
Pre-Order the Game
There are two editions available for pre-orders and these are:
- Modern Warfare II:
- Access to the full game.
- Open Beta Early Access.

- Legendary “Deathknell” Operator Skin
- Legendary “Bloodthirsty” Weapon Blueprint
- Both can be used in Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone.
- Vault Edition of Modern Warfare II:
- Access to the full game.

- 20+ free items celebrating the Task Force 141 icon, for Modern Warfare (2019) and Warzone, unlocked upon pre-purchase.
Open Beta
What can players expect during the open beta? It's going to offer a multiplayer experience that goes beyond the core 6v6 experience along with different meticulously designed maps of various sizes, and an equally impressive set of modes and progression experiences, to name a few.
There's also the Marina Bay Grand Prix, where combat occurs within the main infield of an urban race circuit, one of the 6v6 multiplayer maps confirmed for the beta. Besides the different in-game rewards during the beta, players who pre-ordered the Vault Edition can also use these rewards during the testing period:
- All four of the Red Team 141 Operators – Ghost, Farah, Price, and Soap – each wearing a special masked outfit.
- The FJX Cinder Weapon Vault.
