Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will allegedly release as a standalone game on Xbox One July 27. This information was gathered by a rogue GameStop store page that has leaked the information prior to an official announcement from Activision.
The page lists the July 27 release date with complete Xbox One box art and a standard retail price of $39.99. The description is identical to the one found on the PS4 version’s product page, and it can be read below.
One of the most critically-acclaimed games in history, Call Of Duty®: Modern Warfare is back, remastered in true high-definition. Call Of Duty® 4: Modern Warfare® set a new standard upon its original release for intense, cinematic action, while receiving universal praise as one of the most influential video games of all-time.
Relive one of the most iconic campaigns in history, as you are transported around the globe. You'll suit up as unforgettable characters Sgt. John "Soap" MacTavish, Capt. John Price and more, as you battle a rogue enemy group across global hotspots from Eastern Europe and rural Russia, all the way to the Middle East.
Additionally, team up with your friends in the online mode that redefined Call Of Duty by introducing killstreaks, XP, Prestige and more in customizable, classic multiplayer modes.
As that description implies, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered offers a graphically improved version of the 2007 game’s single-player campaign and vanilla multiplayer suite. Those who wish to enjoy any multiplayer from the Variety Map Pack must purchase it as separate DLC for $14.99.
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered was first released as a pack-in title with premium editions of 2016’s Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare. On June 27, the game released as a standalone product for PS4. Now that the franchise’s typical month-long Sony exclusivity window has expired, this page suggests Activision is getting the game out to its Xbox fan base as soon as possible.
That being said, as with most game-related leaks, there are certain questions that either cast doubt or mandate an official answer. On the doubt side of the equation, we’d be remiss if we didn’t point out that it’d be somewhat odd to release Modern Warfare Remastered in the U.S. on July 27 because that’s a Thursday. It’s always possible for new products to ship that day, but, especially for major publishers like Activision, the conventional wisdom is to release on Tuesday or Friday. Just like some of the standalone PS4 leaks before today, this one could be off by a day or two.
The other question to ask is what’s going on with the standalone PC version. This leak only pertains to Xbox One, and GameStop has no PC-centric listings available. Given Call Of Duty’s smaller PC audience, might this standalone spinoff be a console exclusive? We doubt that, given a PC build currently exists, but, with no leaks to go on, it’s an open possibility.
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is available as a standalone game on PS4 and as a premium edition Infinite Warfare pack in on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
