The Captain Marvel movie won’t hit theaters until 2019, but fans are already looking forward to Brie Larson’s introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially after Kevin Feige described Captain Marvel as the most powerful hero introduced in a Marvel movie yet.
During an interview with IGN, Feige talked about the importance of having a woman as director, as well as changing Captain Marvel’s origins.
"What is one of the coolest things about it is she will be by far the most powerful character we've ever introduced in the movies. 'How do you find those limitations? How do you find those vulnerabilities?' is something that is sort of at the crux of the story that we're putting together. She has -- as you know from the comics -- an interesting story, and I think we have a very cool and unique way of telling that story. I don't think it's leaked yet exactly what we're doing with her movie or how we're doing it, but it will be cool. She will prove to be a very important character in our universe for all the movies."
We’ll probably see a lot more of Carol Danvers after Captain Marvel releases, perhaps even before. Feige also teased "the idea of all of the pre-existing Avengers interacting with her for the first time" as something to look forward to. Avengers: Infinity War could be a good place to start. I’m sure the Avengers could use the most powerful hero in the MCU on their side.
