“It’s un-unsinkable.” That was the promise of Titanic: Experience the Romance, a tourist attraction from Season 1 of Rick and Morty where Morty’s parents, Jerry and Beth Smith, relive all the wonder and romance of James Cameron’s Titanic, right down to the steamed-up jalopy. It was a dream come true for Jerry (at least until his Titanic experience took on shades of Fatal Attraction and Cape Fear), a nightmare for Beth. But what if you’re a Jerry in our world, so many slices away from Earth Dimension C-***?
Thanks to Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group, you’ll soon be able to travel to Sichuan province and recreate a Rick and Morty episode recreating a James Cameron movie, presumably at great expense.
Work has started on a full-scale replica, which will allow visitors to eat onboard, stay overnight and experience simulations of the 1912 iceberg crash that killed 1,514 people.
“It will be 269 meters (more than 882 feet) by 28 meters (about 92 feet), just like the original. Plans call for replicas of some of the Titanic's interior features, like a ballroom, a theater, a pool and first-class cabins.”
It looks like you can already preorder tickets, Jerry. The new Titanic is expected to be completed by the end of 2017. Presumably, we will have seen Rick and Morty Season 3 by then.
