Winter is coming to Cities: Skylines in the latest DLC expansion. This expansion, called Snowfall, will bring a whole bunch of new content and challenges to your friendly megapolis. Paradox Interactive has also released a new trailer to show off the “cool” new stuff.
Along with the obvious winter makeover, Cities: Skylines: Snowfall will feature rain and fog for all existing maps, as well as the new Winter map theme. Players also get expanded public transportation options as well, including easier management of existing lines and the ability to make Trams.
Snow is majestic, but problematic. Players will have to deal with the demands that go along with winter, like citizens’ increased demand for electricity to keep themselves warm. Sure, players could bypass this if they use the new water-based heat systems but those are expensive!
Another major challenge that snow brings is the need to get it off the roads. Players will now also be tasked with keeping up an army of snowplows to ensure that traffic doesn’t crawl to a standstill after the first few inches of snow fall. Traffic is already one of the toughest challenges to master in Cities: Skylines, so adding another layer of issues should equally frustrate and captivate dedicated players.
No price for Cities: Skylines: Snowfall has been confirmed but Cities: Skylines’ previous expansion, Cities: Skylines After Dark, sold for$14.99. It’s safe to expect a similar price point for Snowfall.
Cities: Skylines: Snowfall will coming to PC at some point later this year. No firm release date has been confirmed yet, but expect to see this DLC while it’s still winter.
