The Civilization 6 team has shared the details for Japan, Egypt and the good ol’ US of A, along with their new leaders. Now Civ 6 bids a fond farewell to China’s leader in Civ 5, Wu Zetian, and replaces her with Qin Shi Huang, builder of the Terracotta Army. Check out the video below for more details on China in Civ 6:
China’s special Civ ability is called Dynastic Cycle, which gives them a bigger boost from Eurekas and inspirations compared to other Civs. Qin Shi Huang’s special leader ability gives his builders an additional use as well as allowing them to boost construction on Ancient and Classical Wonders, keeping them valuable indeed.
The Chinese Unique Unit is Crouching Tiger Cannon, a high-power short-range unit that doesn’t require specific resources to produce. The unit’s history is described below:
“Gunpowder, discovered in China around 9 th Century AD, was initially only used for fireworks and celebratory activities; however, its application eventually spread to warfare. And so the “Crouching Tiger” was born, a rough prototype of a cannon that was essentially an iron tube, wrapped in thick rope and sealed at one end. The Crouching Tiger was reported to be in use throughout China in 1368 and even as late as 1592.”
China’s Unique Improvement is the Great Wall, a tile improvement only the Chinese may use. At first, it provides defense and gold bonuses. As time marches on, it provides bonus culture and tourism. Because the Great Wall is a tile improvement, builders will need to be assigned to the Wall to continue expanding it.
China is a Wonder-focused Civ in the early game, but unlike Egypt, its Great Wall lends itself to a more defensive and insular play strategy. You can read more about China in Civ 6 here.
Other civs confirmed in Civilization 6 include America, led by Theodore Roosevelt, England, led by Queen Victoria, and Egypt, led by Cleopatra. What civ do you hope we get the details on next? Let us know in the comments section below.
