When the CW announced they were upgrading The CW App last week, DCTV fans across the country rejoiced. Not across the world, well because, the app isn’t available there... not in the U.K., not in Canada, not in India -- nowhere but the U.S. But The CW app is now available on nearly every mobile device or streaming console for free -- Roku, Chromecast, Apple TV, XBox, Windows, Amazon Fire TV, iOS and Android (I’ll leave you to find the CW App apk on your own devices).
The CW App allows you to watch any CW show the day after it airs. If you don’t have cable or a digital antenna with access to CW, you’re still kind of screwed as far as watching live. And well, if you don’t have a TV, you’re just out of luck, since the weekly episode most likely won’t be on Hulu anymore. Lucky for you, The CW is giving you one option -- it may be full of advertisements and adheres to the ‘rolling five’ rule -- but hey, it’s free and better than nothing.
To encourage viewers to download The CW App, the network released Superhero Fight Club 2.0 exclusively on the app instead of on YouTube. The second edition of DCTV heroes’ secret fight club inducted Supergirl and also featured Green Arrow, White Canary, Firestorm and Atom fighting off deadly bots created by Cisco and Felicity.
The CW App still doesn’t grant access to older seasons of shows like Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow. Stream Supergirl Season 1 on Netflix now, but The Flash Season 2, Arrow Season 4 and Legends of Tomorrow will release on Netflix the same day that new seasons of each show premiere on The CW.
The Flash is the first series to return on Oct. 4. Download The CW App here.
