Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher dev CD Projekt Red announced the expansion of its playtesting program to include North America.
In an official Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), the studio said that it is currently holding playtests at its studio in Warsaw. It added that this was also being done in Boston and in Vancouver.
CD Projekt Red's Playtesting Program
The playtesting program requires eager players to be at least 16 years old to sign up and they should not be working in the video games industry. They will also need a CD Projekt Red account and will have to fill out a questionnaire.
The studio said that the playtesting program would give participants an opportunity to influence the development of the company's various projects.
This would be done through feedback on everything from gameplay mechanics to storytelling to character development and even artistic direction, according to the Video Games Chronicle.
CD Projekt Red also noted that players will be able to influence all of these factors of game development even from the very early stages of the production process.
It added that participants of the playtesting program will get "exclusive loot" as well as a chance to make their voices heard.
The studio's new North American arm is the one leading the development on the sequel of Cyberpunk 2077, codenamed Project Orion. The company added that the game's development outside of Europe means that it will be more "authentically American."
Feedback on Upcoming Games
While CD Projekt Red expanded the accessibility of the playtesting program to allow more people to sign up, it might be a little difficult to actually get selected.
This is because the company said that you will only be chosen if "your gamer profile aligns with what we're looking for," Games Radar said.
The studio did not express exactly what it meant or what it was looking for in a player to choose them to join the playtesting program.
One requirement was that participants should be passionate about gaming and be eager to share their insights with the development team.
CD Projekt Red originally started holding the playtesting program last year. It argued that it would help make games that inspire and enrich gamers' lives. At the time, the program was only accessible to gamers in Warsaw, Poland, which is the company's headquarters.
The actual playtests will be in-person events and online sessions for interviews and other studies will be available for participants from other areas, according to NeoWin.
