Cyberpunk 2077 will make an appearance at this year’s E3, with developer CD Projekt RED releasing a trailer and gameplay demo. This information comes from sources speaking to Polish site GRYOnline.
According to GRYOnline, CD Projekt RED will team up with one of the major game publishers to reveal a new Cyberpunk 2077 trailer. This would make sense, seeing as how the studio previously worked with Microsoft when debuting a trailer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at E3 2013. While GRYOnline recognizes that video game rumors are often wrong, the outlet says this information comes from two different trusted sources.
Along with a trailer, GRYOnline claims CD Projekt RED will offer a hands-on gameplay demo at E3 as well. Unfortunately, the demo will take place behind closed doors, and will only be offered to journalists. While this is disappointing for those planning to attend this year’s E3, it again lines up with how CD Projekt RED handled the release of The Witcher 3. Articles from 2013 mention a private demo of The Witcher 3 when talking about gameplay impressions.
If CD Projekt RED follows a similar media plan for Cyberpunk 2077, that means we can expect a release scheduled for 2019. The Witcher 3 was planned to release in 2014, but was delayed to 2015 because of bugs. Of course, Cyberpunk 2077 could also be delayed, especially if it can live up to its lofty ambitions.
An E3 trailer and demo would also line up with the reawakening of the Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter feed. The official feed from CD Projekt RED was silent since 2013, but released a new tweet with only the word “beep” on Jan. 10. The account has yet to send out any messages after that one tweet. The likely reason for this is to build hype for Cyberpunk 2077 leading up to E3 and the new trailer.
That said, everything here is pure speculation at this point based on what has happened in the past. Until CD Projekt RED confirms Cyberpunk 2077 at E3, none of this should be considered a fact. Be sure to keep an eye on the Cyberpunk 2077 and CD Projekt RED Twitter feeds for the most up-to-date information.
