Sure, we love our smartphones now and we may enjoy the technologies that enable us to be connected with the rest of the world, but come 2084, our modern age privilege becomes a curse. From the developer of Layers of Fear comes a new first-person cyberpunk horror title called Observer, coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on Aug. 15.
Observer takes place in a dystopian society where technology now has the terrifying ability to hack into anyone's mind. Players will experience this dark world as Detective Dan Lazarski (played by legendary Blade Runner actor Rutger Hauer), who is part of a corporate-funded police unit that has clearance to hack into the minds of suspects.
Via Observer - The Year is 2084's YouTube trailer description, "In this future, anything you think, feel, or remember can be used against you in a court of law."
In Observer Lazarski will receive a mysterious message from his son, who is a high-level engineer for the powerful Chiron Corporation. A lead in the message will bring Lazarski to the Class C slums of Krakow, where he will hack into the unstable mind of criminals and victims alike in order to piece together clues that will lead him to his son. However, the truth that unfolds will also force Lazarski to relive the fears and the painful pasts these poor souls have experienced.
