Destiny 2' s upcoming expansion, Witch Queen, has been delayed to early 2022 as per Bungie. The developer wants to work a bit more on the expansion as it connects the Beyond Light and the Lightfall storylines. Bungie stated that the Witch Queen expansion is “unlike anything we’ve ever attempted before, with characters, arcs, heroes and villains that persist over multiple future releases.” The expansion will also clear doubts on the “Light and Darkness Saga,” which is really an old conflict present since the original Destiny.
The developer team wants to perfect the foundation of the game before they launch more content. Bungie’s vision is to create an action MMO game that you can enjoy with your friends. So, they are taking small steps, such as keeping the armor and weapon system fresh, refining PvP content, implementing transmog, and adding crossplay. The pandemic is another issue for Bungie as the dev team is working from home. Thus, they have trouble releasing content.
The developer added: “Making this choice is not one we took lightly. Believe me, as someone close to The Witch Queen’s progress, there's no one more than us that wants to get it out as soon as it’s ready.”
Here are some of the changes you can expect for the Stasis ability in the upcoming updates:
Behemoth Titan:
- Decrease Super damage reduction.
- Increase Super energy cost when performing light attacks.
- Remove freeze AOE on Super cast.
- Reduce traveling efficacy of Shiver Strike when slowed.
Revenant Hunter:
- Decrease Withering Blade damage and tracking.
- Decrease slow stacks applied to targets.
- Remove Shatterdive damage reduction.
Shadebinder Warlock:
- Fix bug where Iceflare Bolts wouldn’t track toward targets immediately on creation.
- Fix bug where Shadebinder Super projectiles were not tracking until a certain distance traveled.
General:
- Decrease crystal shatter damage.
So, what are your thoughts on Bungie delaying the upcoming Witch Queen? Personally, I think it’s good the developer is taking time to address all issues and perfect the expansion before launching the final product. We wouldn’t want another expansion like Curse of Osiris, which had nothing interesting.
