Diablo II: Resurrected will be released in less than two weeks, so it is only fitting that the community will ask as many questions as they can before making that purchase decision.
That said, a lot of things have been confirmed by Rod Ferguson, the game’s executive producer. For instance, Ferguson has confirmed that the game will not support personal loot on launch, stating that the original game has always followed the universal loot system. However, he did mention that they may add the feature later if the community deems it necessary.
It seems that there is another question that Ferguson answered recently. User @DecayingBlond asked if Resurrected will support cross-progression. They asked this because if the game does, then they will have a reason to buy the Nintendo Switch and play it from there.
Ferguson promptly replied and said: "It supports cross progression." So, the user may finally pull the trigger and get the portable console.
This is interesting because back in March, some of the game’s developers said that Resurrected will not support cross-play.
Before anything else, there is a difference between cross-play and cross-progression. The former is a term used to refer to the option that allows you to play with your friends regardless of what platform they use. Cross-progression just makes it so that you can play on one platform and continue on another one with your progression intact.
Anyway, producer Matthew Cederquist said that cross-play between users on various platforms “just wasn’t the right fit for the game.” He added that different control schemes, varying UIs, and design elements prove to be challenging obstacles that the developers have to face in this regard.
Still, having the ability to continue where you left off using the platform that you have at a given moment is better than nothing. Just imagine playing on PC for a few hours, then relaxing on the couch after and continue your adventure on the Switch.
In other news, it seems that there will be more information about the upcoming game this week. User @EndorphinsSC asked if there will be another round of beta testing before the launch as there has been no marketing or new footage. Ferguson said to just stay tuned as there will be more news in the coming days.
Diablo II: Resurrected will be launched on September 23 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
