The Division 1.8 update has just been revealed in a new trailer. The biggest feature in this latest update is a new area of the map to explore: West Side Pier. A closer look at the new update will come during a livestream on the official The Division Twitch account on Thursday, Aug. 31, starting at 11 a.m. EDT.
For those familiar with New York City, the new area looks like it will be around where the Javits Center is. An old ship is also prominently featured in the trailer, which is likely The Division’s version of the Intrepid Museum. For The Division players, hopefully it means there’s a good chance we get to go in there and fight some baddies.
Along with the new area, The Division 1.8 update introduces two new game modes. The first is known as Resistance, which is a PvE mode where up to four Division agents fight off waves of incoming enemies from all factions. It’s a game of survival, with prizes awarded to groups that last long enough to claim them.
The second game mode is Skirmish, a PvP mode with two teams of up to four agents that fight to score the highest number of kills before the timer runs out.
Finally, other smaller changes made in this 1.8 update includes improvements to the Underground DLC, changes to the gear system and more.
Although there is no firm release date yet, The Division 1.8 update is set to release this fall. The update will be free for all users, and will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
In other The Division news, update 1.7 is now available. This update has added new features like global events, commendations, patches, face masks and Classified Gear Sets. These gear sets are new pieces for existing gear sets that feature five and six-piece bonuses. The full patch notes for update 1.7 can be found here.
