Two members of Dota 2 team OG made the decision to leave and it’s not surprising to know who. It’s none other than Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan and Martin “Saksa” Sazdov. They were signed by the team in the quest for a possible three-peat at The International.
In a post, OG revealed that after TI, the team got together to discuss what the future would be for the roster. During that same meeting, it appeared that both SumaiL and Saksa expressed their intention to look for other opportunities, especially for the upcoming season. So, OG decided to “grant their wishes.”
OG esports CEO JMR Luna shared that the two are not only incredible players but even better teammates. Indeed, these are sure to have an impact on whatever organization they decide to join. Luna went on to say that they will be missed and thanked them for being part of the adventure.
While it is interesting to see where SumaiL and Saksa would end up, a better question is what’s going to happen now to OG. With this news, OG is now left with three members, Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen, Sébastien “Ceb” Debs, and team captain Johan “N0tail” Sundstein.
During TI, there were stories going around the community that Topson was planning to retire from the competitive scene. That would probably be the same for Ceb, who recently underwent an operation on his eye. If that happens, then N0tail would be left by himself.
There’s a possibility that the roster could stick together if the former members return. However, the chances are slim considering the many fans who noticed Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka removing OG logos from his Twitter account. There’s also no word if Anathan “ana” Pham has plans of going back to competitive play.
The thing is, OG has cemented its place in Dota 2 history especially with its back-to-back wins in TI. The best move right now is to get new players and have the remaining players in the roster take on management or coaching roles.
What about you? What do you think OG should do for the upcoming season?
