Team Secret released an announcement that is sure to surprise many in the Dota 2 community. Secret has made changes to its roster and revealed that Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng is going to be on inactive status in order to take an extended break. Replacing him is none other than Lasse Aukusti "MATUMBAMAN" Urpalainen.
According to Secret, the demands of the previous DPC season have been heavy on everyone, particularly when it came to boot camps and even the need to travel around the world to take part in tournaments.
In a statement released by Secret, MidOne not only gave everything "tremendously in order to compete and contribute to our team’s success at the top level of DotA" but also proved to be "an invaluable player and friend along the way, and we could not ask for a better team member." Since MidOne joined the team, Secret has won three Majors and even finished fourth at TI9. As such, the team wishes him well as he takes time away from competitive Dota 2.
Serving as his replaces is MATUMBAMAN, who is sure to bring a different dynamic to Secret. The addition of MATUMBAMAN offers both new possibilities and new playstyles.
Secret also announced that Lee "SunBhie" Jeong-jae is leaving as coach. He has been with the team since 2017 and has helped particularly "with preparation, draft strategy, booth presence, and game analysis – a crucial asset in making adjustments between matches during a series and through a grueling tournament." Replacing him is Lee "Heen" Seung Gon, who was part of Team Liquid during their excellent run and victory at TI7.
As a fun trivia fact, it's interesting to note that before being part of Team Secret, both SunBhie and Heen served as coach for TNC.
These changes are going to be tested when Team Secret takes part in the qualifiers for DreamLeague Season 13 or The Leipzig Major. The team is then going to Singapore to be part of the ONE Esports DotA 2 World Pro Invitational.
It would be really exciting to see how both MATUMBAMAN and Heen are going to impact Team Secret in this new DPC season.
