We finally have a date when Dune: Spice Wars is entering Steam Early Access and it’s on April 26. When that happens, it’s going to be the first time in decades when players will again set foot in Dune.
Based on Frank Herbert’s sci-fi masterpiece, the game offers a real-time strategy combined with 4X elements. Back in February, we reported that two houses - Atreides and Harkonnen - were revealed. The number of factions has since expanded to four with the addition of the Smugglers and the Fremen.
Each faction has its own strengths and weaknesses but ultimately the goal is to make sure that the spice must flow.
A Different Enterprise
Given the value of the spice, there’s no doubt that it’s going to attract a lot of enterprising individuals. Most of the spice trade is controlled by CHOAM but those who want to avoid them often turn to smugglers. As a result, they turned into a major economic power, albeit one underground. Life in the Desert
Compared to the other factions, the Fremen are from Arrakis. They are not only able to withstand the open desert but also have a greater capacity to move across them. They also have a lower chance of attracting the sandworms and the improved ability to ally with hidden Sietches.
In a statement, Shiro Games CEO Sebastien Vidal shared that there are a lot of fans in the studio and he saw the excitement while everyone was working on the game. He went on to say that they can't wait for fans and players to try the game.
