Elden Ring is one of the most highly anticipated games next year, maybe after God of War Ragnarok. But unlike Ragnarok, Elden Ring is coming to every major platform. The game will launch on February 25 worldwide. Curious? Check out the 20-minute gameplay footage. Pre-orders are now live, with five different editions available. However, there is still a lot of stuff about the game that we don’t know about.
FromSoftware revealed some information about the game’s performance. We have mentioned all of it below.
PC Platform
On PC, the game will support the maximum resolution of 3840x2160, also known as 4K. Both HDR and ray tracing will be supported. However, the latter will be introduced via a post-launch update.
Unfortunately, the game is locked at 60 FPS, meaning you can’t play Elden Ring at 90 FPS or higher. I am sure modders will fix that. Unlocked framerate mod was released for previous FromSoftware games. But for 2022, there is no excuse for developers to release a 60-FPS locked game. This decision will surely ruffle up some feathers.
PlayStation
All PlayStation consoles will support HDR. Ray tracing will also be introduced via an update.
- PS4: Up to 1080p at 30 FPS
- PS4Pro: Up to 1800p at 30 FPS
- PS5: Up to 4K at 60 FPS
The resolution for PS4 Pro will use the Checkerboard system. For PS5, the 60 FPS is only supported in 4K resolution using the Performance Mode.
Save data is supported but only one way. You can transfer your PS4 save data to PS5. You can’t, however, transfer your PS5 save data to PS4.
Xbox
HDR will be supported on all Xbox consoles except Xbox One. Ray tracing will be introduced only for Xbox Series X via a later patch.
- Xbox One: Up to 900p at 30 FPS
- Xbox One X: Up to 4K at 30 FPS
- Xbox Series S: Up to 1440p at 60 FPS
- Xbox Series X: Up to 4K at 60 FPS
In both 1440p and 4K resolutions, 60 FPS is possible by enabling the Performance mode on your Xbox console.
The Xbox version of the game supports full cross-gen compatibility, and save data can be transferred both ways.
