You might get your college degree and have some kids before you get to play the next Elder Scrolls game. Pete Hines, who is Bethesda’s SVP of marketing and communication, claimed that the game is years away from being released. We won’t even get any more details about the next main Elder Scrolls game for a couple of years. Hines confirmed that the game will release after Starfield, another Bethesda title which we know very little about.
It has been nine years since we have gotten a proper AAA entry in The Elder Scrolls franchise. The last game in the series was Skyrim, which was released back in 2011. Roughly one bazillion different editions of Skyrim were also released since then from VR ports to versions of Skyrim made for Amazon's Alexa.
The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced at E3 2018 with a short 36-second announcement trailer. We only saw a big open field and a couple of mountains. No other information has been revealed. We don’t when Elder Scrolls 6 is set, where it is set, or who we play as. However, that’s hasn’t stopped the fans from getting hyped. Elder Scrolls' fanbase is seriously out of this world. Check out this guy named Monsieur Dupond who comments on the short teaser trailer every single day. Now that’s some next-level dedication. I hope Bethesda acknowledges him in one way or another.
Elder Scrolls is one of the most critically successful franchises from Bethesda, with Skyrim being considered as one of the best RPGs ever. Unfortunately, Bethesda hasn’t had a good track record with their releases recently. Fallout 4 didn't quite live up to the hype carried over from Fallout: New Vegas, and we don’t even have to mention how Fallout 76 was received at launch. The upcoming Elder Scrolls 6 will have to be nothing short of a masterpiece if Bethesda aims to win back some fans.
