The highly-anticipated expansion pack of Elite Dangerous is closer than you might think. Previously announced, Odyssey DLC was supposed to launch in December 2020. However, it was delayed due to the COVID-19. The original release date mentioned by developers was early 2021. No exact release date was given until now.
According to the Steam pre-order page, Elite Dangerous: Odyssey will launch on April 21, 2021. Being noted on Steam indicates a good chance that the new release date is accurate. But it could also be a bug or a mistake from the developer's side. I recommend that you wait for an official announcement from Frontier Developments before getting all excited.
The Odyssey expansion pack will set you back $40. That’s a pretty big amount for a DLC, though it does offer quite a lot of content and new features. After buying the DLC, you will be able to explore the galaxy like never before. You will also get to visit worlds on foot for a new experience.
If you pre-order the DLC, then you will get access to the exclusive Pioneer suit skin. There is another edition of Odyssey available but it'll cost you more. It's the Odyssey Deluxe Alpha Expansion priced at $54. That’s a little expensive in my opinion.
Deluxe Alpha will give you access to the Alpha version of the game when it’s available. You will also get Elite Dangerous: Odyssey OST.
Deluxe Alpha Expansion Contains:
- Elite Dangerous: Odyssey
- Access to the Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Alpha.
- Elite Dangerous: Odyssey OST
Pre-order Bonus:
- Gain access to the exclusive Pioneer suit skin.
Elite Dangerous was released on PC back in 2014. Since then, it has been ported to Xbox One and PlayStation 4. You can also play the game on both of the next-gen consoles via backward compatibility.
