Everything you need to get your adventure in Nuka-World off to a great start Bethesda

Fallout 4’s last DLC, Nuka-World, is here and there might be some confusion about how it all starts. Don’t worry, it is a little jarring, but with this guide you’ll be ready for smooth sailing. If you have any other tips, be sure to leave them in the comments below.

The Gauntlet

The Gauntlet is the death maze you are thrown into right at the start of Nuka-World. There are a few ways through, but brute force is going to be the easiest here. To make it through the Gauntlet more easily, be sure to level up your Lockpicking skill. Being able to pick advanced and master locks will allow you to cut past some traps and get to the end quicker.

While the game does walk you through what you need to do for the boss at the end of the Gauntlet, be sure to grab the Thirst Zapper from the bottom of one of the lockers before entering the bumper car arena. You’ll want to shoot the squirt gun at the Overboss to drop his electric shields, then follow through with your main weapon. I found the Overboss was hard to get close to, even with his defenses down, so ranged weapons will work best here.

Nuka-World

Once actually in the park, there are tons of great sights to see. Oddly enough, some of the best sights are the garbage cans, because these are often filled with Nuka-Cola, tickets, tokens and more. The tickets can be traded in at the arcade, but don’t expect anything really special as a reward. The arcade games are fun to play, though, so don’t miss out.

As for new critters, Nuka-World introduces the Gatorclaw, Cave Cricket, flying ants, Bloodworms and more. Based on the names, you’d probably be surprised to know that the cave cricket is the one new creature that gave me the hardest time. They move fast and hit hard, so watch out when some inevitably pop up in your game.

There’s also plenty of persuasion options in Nuka-World, especially towards the end. It would not be a bad idea to bump up your Charisma and Lady Killer/Man Hunter scores as well.

Star Cores

The futuristic Galactic Zone requires players to find Star Cores that help power the area back up and turn off all the killer robots. While only 20 are needed, there are 35 scattered all over the park. Thankfully, there are 20 Star Cores within the Galactic Zone, so players don’t have to go looking far to complete this area.

For the best luck, stick to the attractions in the Galactic Zone like the Starlight Interstellar Theater, Vault-Tec: Among the Stars and the RobCo Battlezone. Between those attractions, you should be able to find enough Star Cores to complete the basic mission. You can also check the terminal in Star Control to see what star Cores are left in what locations. We’ll have a more in-depth guide on all Star Core locations soon.

Settlements

If you want to build up Nuka-World to your liking, I have some bad news. It looks like there are no new settlements in Nuka-World, despite plenty of new items to craft. If you want to get your settlement game on, wait until you get towards the end of the DLC’s main campaign before you start putting Cappy and Bottle on everything you own.

There are a few good starting tips for getting your time with Nuka-World going. So what do you think? If you find any other good beginning tips, or have any questions, be sure to leave a comment below.
